A Full Timing Belt And Pullys Change

Featured Replies

Hi guys, its been awhile since I lasted posted but looking into a cambelt change.

Its a 2007 focus 1.8 tdci @ 54,000 on the clock.

I dont believe or wanna risk the 100k or 10 year mark for a change.

Is there any other things which need changing other than a belt and tensioner?

Any other pullys like crankshaft pully or anything else behind the cam cover?

Kind regards. Joe

That should be all you need. if yours is the MK2 then you would have a chain at the bottom (between the crankshaft and fuel pump) which doesnt need changing

Often makes sense to change the water pump at the same time.

Yes change the waterpump, i forgot about that sorry . You could also change the auxiliary belt while you are there, as that will start to make noises down the line

Cheers for your replies guys. I thought the water pump is running off the aux belt and can be done at a later date? Theres is no noise coming from it. Iv had a funny sound ever since owning the car for 6 months.

Iv had tensioner unit replaced, alternator replaced, aux belt replaced and a idler pully changed and its still there. I dont have a/c fitted in this car.

Iv had a mechanic say he can here something from behind the cam cover Which would be my guess at the tensioner. This is only apparent when car is warm or has been used. Its definitely a rotational noise which increases with revs and can hear it in more built up area and down gearing.
