Water In Spark Plug Well Mk1 Focus1600 Auto Estate

Featured Replies

although my MK1 Focus passed its, M O T with flying colours last week my mechanic reported water lying in the spark plug well, the next day the car began to misfire so I drove it to his garage where he blew the water out with an air hose as he had done previously .It was the discovered that two new core plugs were needed ( £140 labour plus parts) the next day there was water there again I have checked that the r/h washer jet is not leaking ,there is a loose rubber seal at the top of the windscreen which Auto Glass we only refit if they refit the screen cost £300 if not done through my insurance ,this problem seems to occur after it has rained, any theories

.

I believe water in the spark plug well is a common problem. Rain water or water from washing your car gets in under the washer jets and they are right above the spark plug well. I solved the problem by putting a good line of silicone under each washer jet and all around the jets underneath the bonnet.
