Hi Guys and gals,

I'm a newcomer here and just bought my first car a couple of weeks ago, which was a 1.8-litre Ford Focus TDCI, 2004. Seems like a pretty solid motor apart from the fact that there seems to be excessive amounts of black smoke coming from the exhaust when you put your foot down. Posted a topic here looking for solutions and I'm hoping someone will eventually come around to giving me some advice.

For the meantime, I'll stick around these parts and continue to post every once in a while. I'm currently on an automotive repair course and I'm an apprentice at an automotive repair workshop. I suppose I should know how to diagnose and rectify cars on my own, but on this occasion I think I'll see if anyone else here has any past experiences/tips and pointers for me with my Focus.

Seems like a good forum with a friendly community from what I've gathered thus far. I'll post some pictures of my motor tomorrow if I find the time. It's just a bog-standard five-door, MK1 Focus - nothing out of the ordinary.

See ya' around.

Is there any way to get rid of that "Members via Twitter" title underneath my profile picture and is there any way to change my screen name?
