2012 Ford Focus 1.6Tdci Oil Filter Change

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Im doing my first oil and filter change on above, as I dont want to wreck the

engine at first startup, is there anything I can disconnect to stop injectors

working while cranking to allow oil pressure to build up ??

and location if possible where to look etc..

Once pressure is only would re connect and normal start !!

Thanks for any advice given

huey45/Keith

Dont bother, just change oil and filter, and refill.dont start uplugging injectors!!

I agree with iantt. I've changed mine twice now. Same year, same engine.

Just change the oil and filter then start as normal.

Only thing I would say is when you undo the oil filter housing have a catch tray or some cardboard on the floor.

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

Need t30 torx screwdriver/ bit for undertray, 21mm socket for sump plug, 27mm socket for filter housing and screwdriver to remove intake pipe.

And dont forget to reset the oil service light.

dont know about the orientation of the filter on the 1.6 tdci but on mine its horizontal so i put abit of the new oil into the filter and screw it back in, helps abit on the first start

Every time you start a car from cold the engine effectively run without any oil pressure, so they are designed to cope and no need to worry. For would not be disconnecting injectors etc

yeah its fine just dont rev the car until the oil pressure light turns off and you will be fine
