Engine Rev Issue

Featured Replies

Good Morning all!

i have a small, yet extremely frustrating issue that im trying to eliminate!

when driving and changing gear, the revs are slow to react and drop when shifting up. this does not happen when shifting down however. I also have a slight over fuel issue (i think, i can smell fuel quite a bit when engine is on)

like i said, its not a horrendous problem, just very annoying! trying to get the car ready for ford fair and the June MOT and this is not helping!

so far i have replaced the MAF sensor and the airbox as i thought it was possibly throwing too much air into the system and messing the air fuel mixture up (hence the revs and smell of petrol)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Car is a mk1 2000 focus 1.8 zetec collection
