Replaced Mitsubishi Turbo With Garrett Unit.

Hows it going People,

I have a 2007 focus estate 1.6 TDCI and have been doing some preventative maintenance.

1. Replaced injector seals.

2.Cambelt/Waterpump

3.Replaced turbo.

Problem is when I replaced the Mitsubishi TD 025 with the (new) Garrett unit, there doesn't seem to be as much low down power.

I was thinking it may be because the old unit was well run in and spins up faster?

There was nothing wrong with the old one after 145k

Anybody have any info about the compatibility of this turbo with my engine? my thoughts were that the mapping may be different.

    Which version of the 1.6 TDCI do you have?

    As far as I can find the 90 HP version of the 1.6 TDCI has a Mitsubishi turbo and the 109 HP version has a Garrett turbo.

    Which type of Garrett turbo do you have and is it a direct replacement for the original Mitsubishi turbo?

    Turbo was new from ford at £250 so thought I would get it.

    Based on the Ford Ecat parts program part number 1479055 is only used on the 109 HP version of the Focus MK2. On the Mk2.5 this part number is used on the 90 HP, 100 HP and 109 HP version.

    Problem solved. Thanks JW. Removed the Garrett Turbo and refitted the Mitsubishi one. Also fitted a new CHRA to the turbo for good measure.

    Now I have a Garrett Turbo for sale....
