Abs Light

Featured Replies

Hi all car runs sweet but the ABS light has come on,put code reader on and has come up P0500 ...... vss ..... but speedo and all the dials working fine .....

car is Focus 06 MK2 1.6tdci .... am i right in thinking it could be a ABS ring on one of the cv's may need replacing . ....?

Any thoughts peeps.

cheers tony

The focus MK2 does not have a VSS. The speed is calculated by the BCM (brake Control Module which is mounted on the ABS pump.) and distributed to the other modules which need the speed signal over the CANbus network.

A defective ABS sensor or an incorrect ABS sensor signal should generate different DTC codes.

Personally I would suspect the BCM/ABS module itself or a wiring problem.

I had a similar issue on the CMAX, iot was the short loom from the main loom down to the ABS sensor that was at fault. Replaced for £55 and done and dusted.

just an update ....... it was the front right impulse ring that was at fault ..... i used ConfigELM and it came up with C1142 Wheel Speed Sensor RF Tone Ring Tooth Missing Fault ...... while i was in the area i changed the front wheel bearing also as it was growling abit ....... light out all good.
