Query Ref Tyre Monitoring System

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking for some advice/info - yesterday I had a flat tyre (just enough air to get me to garage), now I assumed that my Mk3 titanium Nav was fitted with the tyre pressure monitoring system as standard? (Or have I got this wrong)

Assuming it is fitted any idea why it didn't activate/show warning?

I've also been through the menu's on the car and can't find any reference/re-set option etc for the system.

Have I got it wrong/Is this a optional extra?

(Apologies I'm new to ford's & cars with tech - previous motor had cd player/manual air con & that was it 😃)

Thanks in advance

In my handbook it refers to the Tyre Pressure monitoring System on vehicles built from 07-04-2014. Maybe it wasn't fitted before this date.

On my car (Focus ST) the tyre monitors are visible as chunkier valves, not sure if that's the same on your car?

Thanks for the reply, valves look standard to me & I've had a look on Ford Eits but noting to say it's fitted or not fitted.

The very early MK3 Titanium did have the DDS tyre Deflation Warning system as standard. This system uses the ABS/ESP sensors to calculate the wheel circumference. If a tyre looses pressure the circumference of that particular wheel changes and the system will generate a warning message on the instrument cluster display.

From a certain production date (somewhere in 2013 if I remember correctly) this option was removed from the Titanium specifications and the DDS option became optional.

From 07-04-2014 the DDS system was replaced by the more advanced TPMS system. This system uses (expensive) sensors which are integrated into the tyre valves. As far as I know from 07-04-2014 the TPMS system is a standard feature of the Titanium.

The DDS system can be retrofitted to every Focus MK3. Because all hardware is already present the system only needs to be activated in the Central Configuration of the vehicle.

Thanks for the info, my focus was built Sept 13 & registered Oct 13.

Going off what's been mentioned I guess my car doesn't have it.

My car did not have it also so I retrofitted the DDS system. This can be done easily with an ELM327 interface and the free FoCCCus software.

It's something I would like but really wouldn't know where to start. 😯

Mine is also a sept 2013 titanium navigator and the DDS was not switched on

Used Focccus and an elm to turn it on (need to reset bcm and abs afterwards)

I also have fitted an aftermarket toms which tells me pressure and temp of each tyre
