bluefiesta
Hi, gunna sound silly but a mate installed a cone filter into my car today and I'm not 100% if it's worth it? He said its better however I need another opinion? What makes it so better? Or worse? Thanks.
Phil 87
From what I've heard they usually don't do much except make the car louder haha. Unless it was set up with a heat shield around it then it'll be sucking in all the warm air around the engine, so it might not do anything performance wise. jeebowhite
It increases heat soak if not protected from the engine bay it can quash power and make it run rough
Phil 87
Yeah I was going to say it can even reduce power if it's just sucking in warm air, or so I've heard (compared to the standard intake which does actually bring in some cool air from the front of the car). bluefiesta
So would yous say it's bad for the car ?
Phil 87
If it's running ok I wouldn't worry about it, but if it was me I'd have it done properly with a heat shield.
