TeeWizzy
Ive just bought my first car (1.6 petrol zetec) it already has a sporty look just wondering if any anyone can suggest a good starting point for some performance and visual modifications. A few mods ive already considered are: wind deflectors tinted windows lcd/aftermarket stereo (undecided) underseat sub( unless i can find a suitable solution for fitting a sub built into the boot to be more tucked away) better door Speakers wanting a straight through twin pipe exhaust is this possible because at the minute the dual look exhaust is a phoney and just feeds off from the left hand pipe or could the ST/RS exhaust be fitted? any suggestions/ links to any of these parts or alternatives that you would recommend would be appreciated cheers:P
bluefiesta
Tinted windows is one of my favourites ♡ I always feel it makes a car look better ♡ I have wind deflectors myself and they are quite good if you like your window being open as means you can open it on rubbish weather days even if it's slightly x
TeeWizzy
yeah i think they make just about any car look better :P and was looking at some heko deflectors earlier they look pretty decent :D x

Brigante
Nice lil body kit there dude Definitely get the heko wind deflectors. Had them on my mk2 focus and now my mk4 mondy If your after a new head unit I may be able to help you out with a brand new touch screen pioneer at a bargain price. Small visual mods you could do to compliment the look of the body kit would be some ST style pedal covers, or the forum favorite custom heating knobs. A definite worthwhile mod would be fitting a second reverse light, including upgrading the reverse light bulbs to cree and also the fog bulb to a red cree fog bulb Tinted windows would finish off the exterior beautifully, especially if fitting wind deflectors. I'd also fit a sun strip too to go with the tints Also for the interior some illuminated scuff plates would look sweet, some that light up with the word FOCUS in blue led too match the exterior If it's of interest I have some of these still left for sale. Think I still have some pedal covers, scuff plates, a red cree fog bulb, a couple solid gloss black pre cut sun strips going spare as well as a beasty pioneer head unit with full fitting kit ready to go in a focus I've not long sold some heko wind deflectors, heating knobs and a fair few other bits
TeeWizzy
cheers mate, i think the deflectors and !Removed! are going to be a must have, i was thinking about a fading blue sun strip as it would go with the colour. Whats the head unit like? ive seen some of the heating knobs think it was on one of your topics not sure but they looked spot on, could do these then was maybe thinking about wrapping a few of the internal plastic parts that come off easily. troy45
Think I've seen a standard Focus running the ST rear box but it'll sit lower than it would on the ST - rear floor is higher on the ST with no spare wheel well to make space for the exhaust. Brigante
head unit is a pioneer avh-x3500dab sound quality from it is great even on stock Speakers, does everything apart from satnav though you could purchase a satnav module for it later. personally i prefer me tomtom which is why i didnt bother. pioneer has dvd/cd player, rear usb, input for a reverse parking cammera, dab radio, aux in and ipod connectivity, if you have an ipod you can also use app mode so theres nothing stopping you using a satnav app and that will display on the headunit screen. bluetooth and comes with the mic. can have pretty much any colour illumination you want and have photos and stuff as a screensaver does a lot more that i can think of to list I paid 320quid for it from Halfords, only had it fitted for two weeks and didnt even put a cd in it. also got the fitting kit which has everything you need to go straight into a mk2 focus, that cost 60quid plus i got a dab splitter for 20quid so you can use the stock fm aerial as a dab/fm aerial so £400 worth of kit in total. only looking for about 280 for the lot yup a blue sun strip would look sweet. black would look good too though to add a bit of contrast and go well with your headlights definitely get the heater knobs too you could also wrap the radio surround etc in blue carbon vinyl

I've seen that too somewhere, think it was some foreign video or summin but yeah it would sit a fair bit lower due to wheel well on a none ST focus I did contemplate it when I had the focus but was always told it couldn't be done
TeeWizzy
ill have to get back to you about head unit after ive had a look round and that. yeah blue carbon vinyl would look the part and thats a shame about the exhaust gunno have to have a rethink then see if theres another option
Brigante
oh yeah definitely colour code your front fog surrounds and your rear bumper trip get rid of the grey
TeeWizzy
they are already black but that rubbish standard trim black would think they would look nicer being a gloss black, seen a few with LED strips (im assuming) above the fogs that look decent
TeeWizzy
Would it be better to put the faded sun strip on after i get the tinting done because its blue or would it be alright?
salsheikh
Tyler with regards to a sub - there is one for sale on another ford forum (ffoc) but i have a sub in the boot which is mounted in the side and takes up very little space. These can be found on eBay for around £70 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-Mk2-Custom-Fit-MDF-10-Sub-Box-Subwoofer-Enclosure-Bass-/360623710681?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item53f6d921d9 i had a vibe amplified box and mounted the amp inside the box and used the vibe sub tinted windows and heko defelctors are a must The pioneer stereo Charlie is selling is ace - i used to have one and it has some more functions if you have an apple phone. You could also add a front splitter to the car if your not happy with the exhaust then go to a custom exhaust place and ask them to move the splitter to the middle so the exhaust fumes are even - mine is like this pipe connects in the middle
TeeWizzy
I've seen the custom surrounds but i need to get a bit more clued up on fitting and wiring etc unless i can find somebody to do it for me ,that would be better than the underseat sub as ive heard there abit crap. Heko deflectors i put on yesterday just need some sealant as the clips were shocking. How much was the exhaust on yours? I took a few pics of what mine looked like from underneath aswell. salsheikh
i used double sided tape to hold up my heko's as my clips too were crap and kept on popping out and then i lost them one day. i purchased 2 trims and got my local custom exhaust place to make up the system - cost about £200 in total. take a trip to longlife/topgear exhausts as they custom make systems. fitting a sub isnt difficult but it helps if you know what you are doing! see if there is a local ICE specialist in your area and ask them about fitting costs. TeeWizzy
The front ones seem fine and study even though they have no clips in its just the back ones are loose because its basically just straight. Where are they based? And i was wondering if Halfords might do it, im sure ive seen on here that they do a bulb fitting service which may also come in handy
Brigante
Good god man do not go to halfrauds for anything fitting.. especially bulbs!! All I've heard from fellow members is that Halfords cant fit bulbs properly, usually end up fitting em upside down and so many people have had MOT failed down to very dodgy beam pattern which has turned out to be from Halfords fitting the bulbs. Also on the focus the headlights are probably the easiest bulbs to change of any car going so definitely no reason not to fit em yourself. Wouldnt trust em to fit a stereo either let alone anything else. Completely bodged my sisters
TeeWizzy
Well looks like i might have to have a rethink on that front then
Brigante
Gotta ask as well, what is the issue with the heko clips? You definitely put em in right and in right place? I had heckos on my mk2 focus and now on my mk4 mondy and the clips are more than enough to hold the deflectors in, even the rears are completely sturdy and never had an issue

Brigante
Put the deflector in first, then get a screw driver and push the clip on behind the deflector. You can comfortably push the clip all the way in so it fits to the shape of the recess and then put the windows up. You put one clip each end of the rear deflectors where there is excess lip. Roll the windows up and leave em up for half an hour or so
