mike6688
Does anyone know how to change a car that has disabled tax back to normal tax charge. I've been doing up a mk1 Focus that was left me, it is currently SORN and off road. However, it has disabled tax so need to get it changed back before taxing it. Is it possible to change and still keep it SORN until i can get it back on the road?
Turvey
Keep it SORN'ed until it's ready for the road and when applying for tax tell them then?

TomsFocus
Disabled tax is free... You have to be receiving certain benefits for it though, not every disabled person can claim it. As for removing it, you need to ask at the post office so the tax class can be changed on the V5 before you apply for the tax, so it does need doing in advance.
gregers
mid to high rate mobility to obtain free road tax. you will have to send the log back back to dvla to change back to plg and then apply for r/f/l.
Stoney871
A main Post Office branch can do it for you. Take your V5C (and possibly MOT) in and they will send it away with the correct form to register reclassification. The Post Office will calculate the new tax band of your car and allow you to tax the vehicle immediately and the new V5C will come back within a week or two. You used to be able to take your paperwork into a local DVLA office and do this but since all the local offices closed the post office took up the duty. You may need to complete the form V70 as well but check with the Post Office. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-to-change-a-vehicle-tax-v70

mike6688
Thank you for all the replies. Thought it would be more complicated than that, lol. Off to the post office when the time comes then :)
