mlevans
Hi, I was told by the garage that I was missing my dipstick so I went out and bought one, now when I put it in its ready awkward to get in. Im thinking they broke it off when they did the service and didn't say anything. I watched a video on how to get a broken dipstick out where you post down a threaded piece of wire and wined it back with a drill, I went to try this but when I post the wire down the tube it comes out the bottom of the engine, surly this can't be right. If I can manage to get the dipstick in its really hard getting out and when it does come out with no oil on. Any help or things to try would be greatly appreciated. STEADS
A Garage mech (not the ones that broke it) might have a retreaval tool with a claw on it that might be slim enough to get down and grab what's left of the old one failing that try a sink pipe cleaner that is spiralled should get one from b an q .never come across this before so just suggesting what I would try .not sure if the dipstick tube comes out I know on some cars you can remove them not sure on the focus though . Russ
Looking on another site they say the tube is held onto the block with one bolt, removing this bolt and pulling like 'billy oh' on the tube should remove it.
IINexusII
its held on my one 8mm bolt on the 1.8 tdci so it should be removable
TomsFocus
He says the removal 'tool' came out the bottom? So the dipstick tube isn't secured properly I guess?? It's not something I've come across before either!
