Hi guys n gals. I have a mk2 2007 mongrel Ford Focus 2.0 tdci. I say mongrel because they seem to have put parts off everything on mine I have a slight problem when I drive I can hear a clicking/ticking noise coming from the passenger side front but when brakes applied even slightly it goes. Also when stationary or moving when I turn left there is a squeak front drivers side. Brand new discs, wheel bearings and driveshafts have just been fitted. Any ideas please?

Have tried jacking it up and spinning the wheel by hand to see if you can narrow it down power steering pump is on the drivers side accessible by taking headlight out but it's electric so can't see that squeaking but again with the help of a assistant have a listen by turning whilst stationary to see if you can pinpoint the area .

Clicking could possibly be the disc touching the metal shield .squeak possibly fan belt when steering is applied .

Fixed the squeak problem was the back plate touching the disc slightly. Think the ticking is coming from the passenger side driveshaft...noticed it was already slightly rusting and also noticed the garage had removed the metal clips n put cable ties on for some strange reason

Driveshafts will go rusty over time, that's normal in truth. The areas to look out for are the rubber boots over the CV joints perishing and allowing grease to come out, eventually leading to CV joint failure. Or the joints can fail of their own accord, usually then leading to knocking noises while turning at full lock etc.

If a rubber gaiter has been replaced it's not uncommon that the new ones are then held on with cable ties instead of the original metal clips that Ford use - these have to be broken off to replace the boot and though repair kits may come with a new clip they need a special tool to crimp them in place and not everywhere would have this available. Cable tie actually does an ok job as an alternative.
