Thanks Delboy. It was all degreased first time, but the leak was hidden behind the crank pulley and was so close to the seal, it looked like that was the cause. It was only that I took it back apart as soon as I did that I spotted it.

My worry now is what else has been 'forgotten' to be replaced. I guess I will b.e taking a close look at everything I have to deal with.
