Fish Smell

Featured Replies

hi all :)

mk1 focus heator ristor when off.replaced yesterday fan is now working again.only now i have this smell coming from vents. heater and fan been working up until till 4 days ago. could this smell have somthing to do with this or is it another prroblem alltogether. any infor appricated thanks

A fishy smell is common if something electrical is shorting or has burnt out. Check everything looks ok and it might just be a residual smell from the old resistor and will clear in a couple of days. Just make sure no other components are burning or shorting out.

Not upset any mechanics lately , we stuffed a kipper from fishmonger at the back of the heater unit on the boss's van, driving around with a foul smell he was not amused, took a week and a half for him to find it. :)

thanks for all the replies ive had a look in the resitor area and checked connection so all seems fine there pollern filter does need changing so thats next step along with pollern filter seal. cheers for replys

Check the fan switch.

When the resistor goes it allows too much current to flow through the switch and it melts the back of it .

It's common on Fords to need a new fan switch when the resistor has gone
