Focus Mk2 Grill... No Badge!?

Featured Replies

Seen a focus mk2 the today with no swivel badge on the grill, no bonnet lock just a plain mesh grill upper grille. How is this possible!?

It might have been converted to a cable pull lock, either that or had external bonnet pin locks. Did you look closely to see if the key barrel was still behind the mesh?

No pin locks and couldn't have a look as it just drove past me - it looked ace but I wouldn't even know where to find one let alone modify the bonnet lock.

The bonnet lock can be converted to a cable operated bonnet lock by using parts from different Ford models (Fiesta MK6/MK6.5 Fiesta MK7 or Focus MK3 for example). However this will not be a direct fit and requires some creativity to make it fit/work.

There are very few front grilles without a logo available for the Focus MK2. Most front grilles without a logo are home made. A popular method to create a front grille without a logo is by cutting out the section with the logo form an original front grille and inserting a piece of plastic mesh from another original front grille.

It shouldnt be that hard to fabricate a bracket to hold the lock in place behind a custom mesh grille so you can put the key through the mesh retaining the abililty to lock/unlock the bonnet properly. Certainly cheaper and easier option than converting to a cable pull system. If you paint the bracket black it shouldnt stand out too much behind the grill either.

Haha! I doubt anyone will fancy a 1.6 petrol with the extreme effort required!

You never know, someone might feel sorry for you and stick a turbo in there! :D

They cant even easily nick the battery with it being such a pain to remove lol.

Though if any of your 'mates' know about it, chances are they'd unplug something under there to confuse you.
