Featured Replies

Hi anyone got a link to a good pair of oil fuel filter wrench.

Thanks

Do not try this at home or else try at your own risk, would not be the first time I have resorted to this method though, used to have filter wrenches and neither of them even worked, either the chain type or the material type I found to be the case anyway.

Lol...never stick a screwdriver through, if it's really on that tight you can rip the casing right off... Leaving the car completely out of action! I use a metal strap tool from Halfords for that style. But most modern ones are replaceable cartridge so just use a socket these days.

I bought a metal clamp style one from halfords. The clamp has serrated teeth on it so you can get a bit of purchase on the filter. You have to slowly inch it loose but does the job. Looks like this one https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-cht657-14-self-adjusting-oil-filter-wr

I prefer filter cups or pliers. Too many cheap tools out there that won't look at an over tightened filter.
