Hwda Or Fydb Engine

Featured Replies

I have a 55 plate focus 1.6 petrol, the engine needs replacing but im not to sure which engine to buy, breakers are saying i need an hwda engine but on the engine ive took out it says fydb3s82517 as the engine number...any help appreciated.

The FYDB engine is the 1.6 Zetec SE engine from the focus MK1/MK1.5.

The HWDA engine is the 1.6 Duratec engine from the Focus MK2/MK2.5.

The 1.6 Duratec engine is a further developed engine type based on the old 1.6 Zetec engine. Both are part of the Sigma engine family. Despite the same dispacement and power rating there are many differences between the Zetec SE and the Duratec engine. For example the internal engine design changed completely from a closed deck to an open deck engine construction.
