As you've probably seen on the Internet you can get custom sub enclosures for the wheel arch on a mk2 focus. Are they worth the £70 price tag? Anyone got one and can give me advice on how good they are pics if possible - I've send you can make these yourself but wouldn't know where to start.

An enclosure should be a specific size to suit the particular sub you have to get the best from it. Do the ones you have seen offer suitable subs to go with the enclosures?

Gives max sub depth air in litres and mounting depth so won't be hard to find one that matches up, just want to know about how good they are!

I got one of those for my MK2.5 and I think it fits the MK2 as well. Excellent finish and mine was made for a 10" subwoofer. No issues at all with it and very easy to install the subwoofer in it.

Here are some pics:

It does look nice, sounds good, doesn't take over the whole of the boot and didn't break the bank. Highly recommend it. Got it from Radioworld Uk at the link on eBay.

With regards to 12" subwoofer, I used to have it and it was just too much for my uses and took over 1/3 of the boot. It was just not practical for me. If you get a decent 10" subwoofer, such as one from JL Audio powered by a properly matched monoblock amp, I reckon you will not miss the old 12" sub :)

I do love my sub but as you've said it eats into my boot space, I might put my dbaudio sub on gumtree for swaps and see what people come up with. I've got a 1200w rms amp so not worried about power. I'll just have to see what I can do about getting a new sub to go in it.

You got plenty of power there for the subwoofer. Reckon if you have a look around for 10" subwoofers within your budget, it would fit the enclosure.

Just to be aware though that the enclosure is ported and will not be as loud as a vented one. But the quality of the bass will be significantly improved.

To be honest, with the 12" subwoofer ported, the bass sounded very loud, drowned most of the other frequencies and just wasn't pleasant. The 10" vented was a lot more musical and blended a lot better with the rest of the system. I personally preferred the better bass quality over the louder setup. Just my preference.

i have a similar set up to Hassen - i used a 10" amplified kit and mounted the amp inside the box

my sub sticks out a bit as its deep and i used mdf rings (ebay) to overcome this issue.
