Mk3 St Power Drop Outs

Featured Replies

Hi all

Since I've had my ST (14plate from new) I've had power drop outs while driving. Just little bumps of power loss, feels like a power cut and sometimes I stuttering acceleration in 1st @1500rpm. This only happens for a while then it goes away and comes back in a few days/weeks time.

Ford can't find a issue, it's driving me mad.

How annoying! My car is running perfectly though and i am happy to do a straight swap if the issue becomes unbearable for you!:D

Do you think you could have a tank of rubbish petrol or has it been a problem no matter what petrol/station you use? I know garages have had contaminated fuel before and it would probably be more noticable in a car like yours. Just a thought as always best to look at the basics first.

Hi WES

As much as I love my ST a swap sound good about now haha.

Could be, I always use shell Vpower and one or two garages though.

Anything else it could be?

Hopefully someone will be able to give you more knowledgeable suggestions as i really dont know to be honest. Im surprised Ford cant find it though. Intermittent faults can be a right pain to track down when they're not leaving fault codes.

It does sound like its going to be a sensor but which one is the question.
