Focus Mk2 1.8 Tdci Sudden Power Loss At High Rpm, Help?

Featured Replies

Hi, am having a few problems with a 2006 1.8 tdci.

It suddenly loses power at around 3500 rpm in every gear with a jolt, feels a bit like limp mode. Systems Fault message appears on the dash for about 2 seconds while the revs drop back down and then drives as normal again (doesn't get stuck in limp mode)

Have scanned it and get codes:

p0088 high fuel rail pressure

p2135 throttle position sensor

Things I have done in order:

New fuel filter

4 injectors with a known good set

Fuel rail and sensor

Accelerator pedal with a known good one.

Any ideas or what to try next?

Many thanks in advance for any input.

Thoroughly check the inter cooler hoses.

There are several threads with similar symptoms and found splits in the intercooler hoses

The stock rubber ones are quite prone to deteriorating and may leave a smear of oil where they have gone.

Thanks for the reply but its not the hoses.

Have driven it today with the computer plugged in, its fuel pressure is up to 2500psi before the fault occurs.

I then repeated the test in my other one and maximimum psi was around 2100 psi.

My next step is to replace the fuel pump and do the belt and tensioner aswel which is due anyway.

Does anyone know what the maximum fuel pressure should be when driven hard?
