Unable To Start Focus After Removal Of Egr Valve(2005 1.6Tdci Mk2)

HELP!!!!!!!!

Hi All , i am new to this site, wonder if you can help.I broke down on motorway , engine running rough, bit of judder , loss of power , with the intercooler pipe(LHS) split badly. Breakdown engineer cut bad end but could not stretch it to fit. Called the low loader to take me back home , engine was firing at this stage. The new mechanic said it was my EGR valve.

I replaced the intercooler hose and had taken off the top part of the EGR valve ( stepper motor section only). sprayed this section with wd40 , and also sprayed into bottom half of EGR that is still fitted onto engine.

After refitting the top bit of EGR , now the engine will not fire , have i put the EGR top in wrong , is there a special way of putting top on ??.

Im guessing you had to remove the fuel pump to get the EGR off as I did when I blanked mine, are you sure you plugged it back in when you re fitted it?
