'with Auto Headlamps'

Featured Replies

So after hearing about a recall issued on some cars in 'Murica, I thought i would finally enter my VIN into etis for a looksie of the build sheet.

Blah blah, Zetec spec, fairly run of the mill. Except it says 'With Auto Headlamps'

What is this and how would I make them be automatic? I was unaware it had this and I haven't a clue what it is anyway. Is it that they are supposed to automatically come on?

Etis is not always 100% accurate.

My old car came up as with auto headlamps and definitely didn't have them.

If you have auto lights then there will be an extra stop on your headlight control knob with AUTO written on it.

I thought as much, it doesn't have that. Flipping Etis.

mine also says With Auto Headlamps, when i dont have them

Is it possible that the cars that are said to have auto headlights according to etis have all the necessary wiring looms in place?

could be, however i think you would need a new windscreen that has the ambient light sensor for any retrofitting to work

think that means it was a extra like say if the buyer wanted sat nav etc i know mini and some mondeo st 220s have that as a option

With auto headlamps doesn't mean it has auto lights. They all seem to have that, I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean.

My Titanium with auto lights has that one plus 'with auto headlamp control'. That is the one that shows you have 'auto lights' as we think of it. :)

Auto headlamps refers to get me home lights.

When you switch the ignition off, flick the indicator stalk back and the main beams will stay on for 30seconds.

Ah yes. It can do that. I don't bother with it but I know it has that!

Something for me to try when the rain stops, no idea if my car has that feature.

Ah, what an excellent feature to drain the battery...just like constant live lighter sockets and dash illumination for half hour after switching off...

Seems odd they'd call that auto headlamps though, but fair enough, learnt something new there, didn't realise the Focus even had that...not that I'll ever use it anyway. :D

Neither will i Tom because i reverse on to the drive so the lights are then pointing at the neighbours but still good to know if we have another feature!:)
