Wot would be a safe rev though. It normally takes about 40 mins to get to work

Just don't redline it all the way there !

4500 is start of redline. I don't want to blow it up. Would you say between 3550 to 3750 would be ok

There isn't really a 'safe' limit, I personally wouldn't want to stay much over 3k for any length of time but in theory it should be fine well over that. Depends how brave you are...and how much fuel you can afford to waste lol.

I just want my old car back. I will go for 3000 on the way and see wot occurs. If nothing I'll swallow a brave pill on the return journey. Thanx guys. Your input is much appreciated. Will keep you informed on the results. [emoji108]

Hi just an update on my car. Took it on motorway this morning. Took the revs to 3000 in 4th only for about 15 mins due to traffic. Then wen I put my foot down I could feel the power it used to have. Wen I travelled home I done the same and had a longer stint at them revs. It was like I had my old car bak. Then as I came off the motorway and started through the gears again that power disappeared again unless the revs went over 3000 revs. Then the power kicked in. Any ideas

Sticky turbo vanes or EGR stuck open if its lacking low end power.

Did you get your car sorted in the end?

I'm having the same problem, white smoke on idle and no power unless revs are over 2000.

  • Author

No. Car is still not sorted. Had it on a top range diagnostics. It said something bout the turbo gate. No idea myself. It going back the garage next week to get sorted properly. Will update wen I no more
