Speedometer Stops Working, Car Starts To Judder.

Featured Replies

Hi all

just got a focus 1.6 desire on a 51 plate, I only paid £1000 for it so not expecting too much but it has just developed a wee problem. The speedo stops working intermittently, it could be while driving along or while stopped at lights/jcts etc. This results in the mileage display showing a double line of dashes and the car starts to judder while driving along (at any speed), again intermittently. When the speedo starts working again the juddering stops. I've doing a bit of reading around on various forums and I think I may have narrowed it down to a problem with the vehicle speed sensor, would this be correct?

Any thoughts/help gratefully received.

Mick
