Focus 2012 Clutch

Featured Replies

Hi all does any one know how long it will take a dealer to change a clutch Master cylinder ? our 2012 focus titanium has done 40535 miles and the clutch has failed ?? they say it is the master cylinder but they have stripped the car over a week ago ??

What exactly have they stripped?

The master cylinder is on the rear of the clutch pedal.

Is it under warranty? Even if it's just outside you might be able to get Ford to contribute towards the repair still. Worth. A try!

Sent from my iPad using Ford OC

You sure its the master cylinder and not the slave cylinder......

Looks like a fiddly job replacing Master cylinder for the clutch but if it's the dealer doing it it shouldn't take a mechanic too long, get it back the same day. A video on the job.

The master cylinder isn't too bad a job actually, the worst part is breaking your back to get at the rear of the clutch pedal.

3 yrs old and low mileage and its already gone

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, don't understand how ford won't acknowledge this is a manufacturer problem.

Thanks for all your answers it is a problem I think with the dealer not listening to the customer they were told at the last service, that there was a problem with the clutch ??? they said that they could not fault it ?. As its a mobility car they should have listened when they were told as it broke down when we were trying to get home for a medical procedure for my wife . The car is now due for renewal but it wont be a ford next time .As we have had many problems with this dealer

Unfortunately we live in the age where unless the car tells a mechanic via a fault code somethings wrong many dealers dont listen ford dealers are not the best in afraid but many others aren't either I was told mine was fine it went two weeks later on my mk1 I told them after they put a new one in it wasn't right again the slave cylinder went it was fixed for free by ford but they forget we drive them we know the squeeks rattles etc so we kniw when its not right... for the renewal take a look at hyundai or kia you wont be disappointed with the car or the customer service

Hey guess what the dealer SPRYS of launceston Cornwall phoned us yesterday at 16 00hrs and said that they had fitted a new Master cylinder and that was not the fault so they were taking the gearbox out ,it took them 8 working days to find that out , if they had the sense to read the RAC report it said that the clutch was bleed out which meant that the master cylinder was not at fault and so it was probably the slave or the clutch it self ??? ( pay peanuts get monkeys comes to mind ) Any way very annoyed I phoned Ford customer services and reported the Dealership as being a very low standard and not what we would expect and they are now following it up Artscot 79 thank you and yes your right except that they are not mechanics any more they are technicians da da only replace parts not fix them . I am a Mechanic with over 40 yrs in the trade and I did my apprenticeship with Rolls Royce the went to Citroen , but being a mobility car I can not touch it if I could it would have been done with in 24hrs . I am hoping to get the car back early next week and its going to be changed on the 20th June for a decent reliable Peugeot .Sorry Fords but this dealership has lost you another customer

dont bank on peugoet being any better.

There's good & bad dealerships no matter what car manufacturer!

I once had a Peugeot from new & will never have another after nothing but problems & poor customer service.

Same goes for the Isuzu pickup I had from new.
