Focus Mk3 (2011) Rear Bumper And Keyless Entry Antenna

Featured Replies

Hi,

After having a couple of minor issues with the Keyless entry, I thought I'd have a Google. I happen to come across a couple of threads where people have said that they could no longer open the rear hatch using the Keyless entry. It seemed to be after having a towbar fitted or had some work on the bumper after an accident, etc. I wasn't aware that there was an antenna at the rear of the car until reading these threads, so I had a quick look this morning. Sure enough, one is there, but not plugged in. Only problem is, the bumper must have been off at some point, and the connector cable has been left dangling down between the bumper bar and the bumper cover. There's no way I can push it back through as there isn't the gap. I don't want to take the whole bumper off, but is it easy enough to loosen off the bumper cover enough to be able to get the connector block back through?

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks,

Steve

Its really easy to take the whole bumper off. 3 screws in each wheel arch area, 1 by each rear light and 2 plastic clips under the rear edge, then there are some push clips so just give it a pull and it will release easy enough. Had to take mine off last week to sort a leak.

Thanks Wes.

In the Haynes manual, it talks about taking the rear lights out as well. All I need is enough play to get the connector through. I'll give it a go tomorrow. I just hope the connector pins and holes haven't corroded from not being connected together. I'll have to give them a good spray of WD40 and a clean with an old toothbrush.

I'm sure we've talked before on the C-Max forums!!

Yes mate we have, only sold the Cmax about 5 weeks ago and bought my Zetec S

instead so signed up on here. Definitely dont need to take the lights out on a mk3 mate, mine is a 2012.
