Lowering Springs

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where I can get a set of cheap lowering springs for my Ford Fiesta 2009 zetec S ?

Thanks in advance

Cheap? No no no no. Don't cheap out on modified suspension/control parts, quality and safety costs money! Buy cheap buy twice

Agreed, though I'm not planning on lowering my car, I've seen a lot about Eibach springs.

But yeah, quality and safety is worth paying for!

I didn't know whether I could get some eibach lowering springs from a breakers or something

Why would you want to lower it? Extremely high speed cornering? Or it looks good (to some) ?

Low suspension looks broken to me, or, you have a load of garden slabs in the back.

I remember you from questioning me about wanting to sort out my exhaust note.

What are you? some sort of mod your car police? You should change your name to Whinemart.

Don't touch the 70 pound ones. Buy some ebiach pro for around 150 as they're high quality and actually have a design to them instead of it simply being a generic shorter spring! I've known alot of people who've bought them and its ended badly. Twice in corsas :D and once in a mk6 fezzy :(

aww what :( poor fiesta ! I just looked on eBay and seen the 70 ones as a rough guide price for him

Not going to lie I did consider the 70 ones till they started snapping & compressing at different rates better off spending the money on the eibach :). They'll last you longer, handle better and give you piece of mind

Buy new, as a scrapyard car may have unseen damage to the suspension. If you can't afford new then save up. Get named brand with a good reputation. Eibach are good ones. I personally wouldn't put on suspect suspension, yeah you may look awesome with 'stance yo' etc, but if it fails and you bin the car, you could either kill yourself or a member of the public.

If you do go for generic or scrapyard parts, your choice entirely. But if you do I recommend that you drive with that in mind, so if one fails you can safely stop the car.

A bit like the 'part worn' debate, I admit to have had part worn tyres in the past, but I always drove that car carefully and inspected them daily for fatigue and weaknesses, and that was a pain in the !Removed!.

TL:DR - buy new. Named brand. If you can't afford to mod properly, don't mod.

LOL, no. I just happen to think that a car going around with its bum dragging on the deck looks a bit chavvy :D

Theres a difference between slamming it to the floor and dropping it by a few cm :)

In my opinion, to lower a car so it handles better, with the right set up, isn't a bad thing. The 'stance' scene much loved by Veedub types with loads of camber and barely clearing the road is retarded. I am with Winemart there. It is retarded, dangerous, and those who think that it looks good were clearly either dropped on their head as a child or need a check up from the neck up.

A car that looks aesthetically pleasing and has practical modifications is perfection in engineering. A car that looks as though it was dropped by a crane is clearly not.

Look at Lenny, JC600, and a few others (which I would look up but I am on my phone, so sorry those who I have clearly missed), they have got it right. Oh and 'Monique the Mondeo'. That car is beautiful and I would not object to having that on my drive!

Did not expect this to escalate into one big debate, all I'm looking is to drop it say 30mm not on the floor. I will be getting the eibach lowering springs then, thanks for the advice

Why do you have to assume that though? He hasn't specified how many mm lower he wants to go, might just be 30 or something. I think some lowered euro cars on cambers and 15s look lovely. It's not a look I'd go for personally, but done right it can look good.

100% Agree with everything above! ^^

Suppose this could be an example of it done badly..

Exactly! :D

Some subjects just happen to inspire debate OP. It is a quirk of the FOC. You get used to it.

I'm sorry, forgive me for being an old _art, but that looks b***dy ridiculous.

So chav it's untrue.

If I saw that for sale and money was no object, I'd give it a definite miss.

Presumably he carries ramps to negotiate sleeping policemen, or is it just to look at?

Must be ridiculously rich chavs where you're from buddy. Each to their own I guess.

Sorry to derail the thread guys.

To be honest both of the above look low enough to be on air or hydros.. so they'll have no problem negotiating speedbumps as they simply rise to the occasion with the press of a button.. or even more likely drive static at a normal driving height then lower at shows.

Sorry for going off topic OP
