Like I said, I'm sorry for being an old _art (in more ways than one).

I'll get me coat

I suppose the car scenes (all of them) are an ever changing ever evolving thing.. and as you probably grew up with the good old classics (which I must admit I'm a fan of.. both tastefully modified and standard) the modern scenes may be very different to how it was.. and it's something that may take getting used to if you're not regularly at shows? :)

Kieran, when I were a lad (1965'ish) we'd spend weeks polishing/gas flowing combustion chambers, inlet ports, changing cams, flat top pistons, searching for cross-flow head converters etc etc. The bodywork was a minor detail, actually, the worse it looked the better it was, as long as you could leave all-comers in a cloud of dust from the lights :D

Haha, bit of an oily rag lad then? ;)

I do all my own maintenence and repairs.. and I've just started a detailing company but I've never really modified an engine! I suppose that's where times have changed! My insurance would never let me modify my engine :(

Cor blimey, you haven't lived.

That was when I paid ~£17 insurance :D

(and kept breaking half-shafts).

See that's the issue.. I pay £2200... :(

Anyway! Getting off topic! I'll happily carry on on my build log? :)

£2200????????????????

I think i'd kill myself :D

But hey, you're still a youngbie (envious).

Give it a few years.

600 Cheaper to have me and the 17yr old girlfriend insured on a 2011 1.6 Zetec s with all the optional extras.. than a 1.4 mk6 :(

I had a 1.4 Fiat a while back, my insurance was £300 cheaper when upgrading to a 1.6 2011 ZS - I don't understand it either.. (I'm 22, just for some context!)

With keyless start and entry.. it's easier to Nick by the sounds of things recently :(

Safer, yeah I agree

That Golf, although it doesn't look bad as such, the stretched tyres are a big no from me. I do not understand nor do I want to why people would stretch tyres like that. Looks stupid, leaves the rims exposed and do not offer the safety of a wide enough tyre.

That's just 'dub' culture, doesn't always relate to people's taste but that's what modifications about, it's unique and personal.

People throw around whether they do or don't like people's new mods on someone else's car, but in truth it doesn't matter, as long as the owner likes it, I'm happy for them!

I'm a fan of stretched tyres up to about a cm if the tyre itself is quite wide.. anything more is just daft. If it's not a car that's going to be doing high speed or hard cornering then why not?

Each to their own if we all had the same taste we would have the same mods and motor :) x
