Fiesta 1.4 Tdci 2003 Power Intermittent After Changing Gear

Featured Replies

FIESTA 1.4 TDCI 2003 when changing gear from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd there is intermittent power from the engine. The power will drop out and come back in within a split second making the car jerky. The same thing can happen when travelling at a constant speed in 2nd or 3rd the power can drop out and back in again depending how far the accelerator is pressed.

Injectors / fuel filter replaced 6 months ago has got progressively worse since. Never had an ECU update as far as I am aware. Not sure if it's fuel / software / pedal related. Thanks

Im hardly an expert on diesel's but could it possibly be a blocked/faulty EGR valve? unless you've had this blanked? I've read they can become blocked with carbon residue and cause the engine to idle and run lumpy. Just a suggestion as I think there fairly straight forward to take off and clean.

Due to the age of the car the E.G.R.V. could well be clogged and, or, faulty, blank it for less than £5.
