Headlight Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi, Can anyone tell me if I bought the led DRL Headlights that the titanium has to replace the yellow h15 DRL headlight on my 2013 fiesta Zetec s will they work?

Cheers

Nope.

Not entirely sure but I believe LED headlamps need heated washers fitting too as they don't produce heat to ever defrost in the winter.

Maybe someone could suggest an alternative to achieve the same effect?

think he is on about the titanium normal headlights but they have the drl led strip built in as opossed to the ones he got with halogen bulb bulb drl built on.

Definitely don't work.

Definitely don't work.

i take it from that you tried and the side light didnt work?

Members have tried it but couldn't get it to work. The titanium headlight are more complex. The car needs reprogramming by ford which so far has been unsuccessful

they wont even program using ford equipment either, body control module wont accept titanium lights

Exactly :)

I didn't even know Titanium models had different lights, is it just the LED stip along the bottom?

That's right

Titanium, Titanium X, ST have the same lights.

The reason the don't work on other models is because the LEDs dim when your indicators are on in daylight.

i just wondering if someone can help me out. I have a Fiesta ST mk6 post facelift and want to swap the headlights to ther DRL aftermarket ones.

Heres a link to them

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=141753215950&alt=web

The originals i have in are bi xenon h4 bulbs but the new ones will be different because the bi xenon controls both dipped and low beam,

the new ones however have a seperate high and dipped beam so im confuesed as to which bulbs i need.

i currently have a HID kit but cant stand the static over the radio, ive tried nearly everything to get rid of it but enough is enough and its time to sling the kit.

thanks in advance for your help

My mk6 has custom bixenon projectors in the stock headlights, with HIDs. I've never had static problems..

Perhaps you've got a cheap kit or bad earth somewhere

Thanks for the reply

Ive check/changed and tested my earths so i know its not that, the only thing i can think of is the ballast themselves causing the static the bulbs, ive heard it can be common.

Which kit did you buy? Might be worth investing in.

I found out that they take 2 seperate H1 bulbs just for clearance if i decided to upgrade.

My kit is designed for H4 bulbs as the projectors require the switch signal for high/lo

I use a h1 bulb. I've fitted them into the headlights themselves and adapted the wiring to fit the old connectors. this means from the outside theres no wiring changes visible and no clutter under the bonnet.

I can't remember exactly which kit I bought. Cost me around £15 a side for the ballast

Mine is a H4 kit with 2 H4 8000k bulbs, mine is powered seperate of a relay that i tapped into the ignition relay so they dont drain the battery and can not be powerd till the ignition is on. Ive heard moving the ballast can help but i doubt it would change much.

Sorry if im being dumb but do you mean yoyr head light is powered bu a H1 bulb? and doesnt that mean you would have no high beam?

The mk6 headlights shouldn't switch on without the ignition running anyway.. so that's unnecessary. If you're running relays then you run power feeds from the battery & signal feeds from one of the cars bulb holders.

My projectors are bixenon. This means high and low beam in one unit.

There is a metal cutoff inside that moves to chaange the beam pattern from low to high & high to low. The h1 bulb is the only light source in the projector. The projector itself controls the beam.

My kit has a power module that it requires 12v, when i connected it to my lositive battery feed it kept killing my batter so i wired it to a relay instead, the lights draws its signal for power direct from one of the bulbs old connecters then into it module, out to the ballast then to the lights. So you have a bixenon H1 bulb set up?

It's a h1 bixenon kit yes. I'd be happy to convert your headlights for you and wire everything if you wanted? If not I've got a guide on my profile which multiple mk6 owners have followed

Would that stop the ballast static do you think?

Replacing the ballast, I believe so yes
