London Flight Death - Stowaways

Featured Replies

So I was over at the cafe about 15 minutes ago and saw this news article.

http://news.sky.com/story/1504970/stowaway-plunges-to-death-from-ba-plane

two people stowed away in the landing gear hold of the aircraft for 12 hours with lowest temperatures of -60 degrees! one survived and is currently in a london hospital.

The other guy, was "dead, or nearly dead" by the time they reached Richmond, and he fell out of the aircraft as the landing gear was down. He fell 8000 feet to his eventual resting place on top of a business in London.

At first, I thought it was exceptionally lucky, he didnt fall to the ground, cause further injury or road accident!

Then, I read onto updated articles... Please someone read this and tell me you see the irony....

The guy fell onto the roof of "NotOnTheHighStreet.com"

I read that too - rubbish reporting by Sky as usual . . picture of the aircraft is incorrect & the distance from Jo'burg to L.H.R. also incorrect & the fact that they '' clung to '' the aircraft is incorrect too !

yup! just found any old picture, JHB to LHR was incorrect though the temperatures were relatively accurate (although the choice of words "up to -60 degrees" - Surely you mean down as low as -60) as for clung to, well they would have jumped into the wheel well, the only time they would cling on is hanging on at takeoff to the landing gear, then they would sit down and get ready for their landing!

Definitely ironic.... shame the poor bloke wasn't around to appreciate it...

As you said, fortunate though that he didn't squash some unknowing person...
