Engine Bay

Featured Replies

Just keep the bonnet shut like I do and not worry about it :p

:P I have but I've suddenly found I like the look of a clean engine bay where I never used to care, I think the detailing bug is just spreading lol

There are vids on YT on cleaning engines

Thanks that would be my next source after the forum when my stuff arrives, YouTube has some great tutorial videos I've used for all sorts :)

Lol SNC, you'll have the tooth picks in the alloys and exhaust pipe next, Scraping out the crud.

I always found the silcon spray looked great for a few days and then the grime was back but a lot more hassle to remove as it sticks to the silcon.

I use silicone free products from inspired and auto finesse

How bad is your engine bay? If there is no oil leaks etc. that really need powerwash or smothing similar, then i would just use AutoGlym Vinyl&rubber care. Just spray the whole (cold)engine bay with that, and wipe down. Whole lot easier and safer, no protecting, no drying and instant shine, it also removes lot of dirt, and keeps dirt from sticking.

I hope I don't get that bad I may have a divorce on my hand if I do as I'm bad enough already with my computer rig building and maintaining :P

Well the fiesta is still relatively new and not the worst so just wanted to give it a spruce over to bring out the shine, however the Giulietta hasn't been touched since I got it 3 years ago (will maybe attach an image later) and needs a good power hosing to get rid of the layers of muck and grime first before adding products. Damn I never got the vinyl & rubber care I got the Autoglym Engine & Machine Cleaner, can I spray that over the entire engine bay the same?

Also you can see from my image it looks a slight tangled mess above the engine block and I really want to get an engine cover for the ecoboost, I've found it sold here but can anyone recommend a better/tested source or any better price?

Yes you can spray that over entire bay, then just wipe all places clean and shiny. The engine cover would be ideal, because it is pretty hard to get to all those tight places with cloth
