very nice, quick question, how come your window surrounds are colour coded around the door pillars, unlike the matt black plastics like the rest of us have? was that something you did?

For a first car, thats pretty impressive. Puts my first car - £180 '95 60hp purple nissan micra - to shame :D

Thanks, worth the wait for it put it that way! And sorry Jeff I pretty much got it like it is in the photos and haha SNC well I got told numerous times to get an old cheap car but fell in love with this...

I remember people were talking about this before as the black plastic around some parts of the car is actually just a type of wrap which can be peeled off. As far as I knew no one had been brave enough to try it haha

Hey ive just bought one too, pretty standard looking though compared to yours. Is that a different rear diffuser or has it, the grill etc been painted black?

cheers :)

Looks nice and clean :D

What did you use to clean the bay in the end?

You really need some sort of photo editing software that allows you to rotate images. haha

Thanks and I know MPX it's this website every time I upload they just rotate for some reason -_- and I used plastic bags to cover the alternator and other sensitive parts, used engine degreaser that was for my old bike used a paint brush after 5 mins to agitate it then rinsed and dried what I could, quick drive, cool down then used back to black spray and wiped it to get rid of any excess dirt and then used autoglym trim and bumper care which worked a treat! Sorry about the essay!

I use mostly silicone spray for the black parts of the car, helps keep the rubbers, tyres even the engine bay in good condition.

I would love it if someone could post a definitive picture of what needs to be covered in the engine bay. I'd love to clean mine properly, but I would much prefer someone to say "cover this, this and this", with a matching picture and then I can get on with it!

Must admit this would be useful as I'd quite like to clean the engine bay.

That's your rockerbox breather, should really go back to the airbox, or to an oil catch (or water trap) can then a filter like can be seen in the picture

What it's doing there us spraying a VERY fine mist of oil over the engine bay, and over time it'll start to become noticeable

Any updates on a guide to cleaning the engine bay and what to cover? As I have this AutoGlym Engine and Machine Cleaner, Autoglym Silicon Spray, some WD-40 Lithium Grease and I already have some Autoglym Bumper and Trim Care and I want to clean both my cars without breaking anything preferably :D

Cover the alternator, throttle body, air intake, any connectors anywhere, dipstick, oil filler cap, brake fluid res (clean it by hand separately)

Fusebox, anything that stands out like it needs to be covered. Use the pressure washer for a fine mist of water, I snowfoam mine before hand & after too.

Do it when the engines cold otherwise you'll think it's on fire

Thanks GingerFlame, what would you normally use to cover these things?

Thanks, luckily I have loads of them :D

Just keep the bonnet shut like I do and not worry about it :p

There are vids on YT on cleaning engines
