1400 lx to 1800 xr3i conversion

Featured Replies

hi guys im very new to all this but would eventually like to be able to share the knowledge that i gather with everybody else!

so here goes ive got an escort on an n reg fairly heavily modified but the only trouble was it was a 1400 with no guts,so after some thought i decided to take an 1800 xr3i lump from a j reg and put it in mine. now before i did this the engine worked fine even kno it had been stood for 3 years it fired up straight away.it was also fitted with an alarm and immobiliser (the xr3i) the problem i have now is all the engine is in the new car only thing is i dont have a spark, ive changed leads crank sensor plugs and dis coil and still no change i was wondering if anybody could help ive recently been told it could be because i never swapped the ignition barrel and keys to the alarm/immobilisor fitted to the xr3i.

if any body coulsd shed any light on the subject id be very greatfull

thanx rich
