hi there i have just bought a ford fiesta mk5 on a v plate phase 2 model cheap, the problems that it is as is the middle exhaust is snapped which i have replaced with a brand new section, now the other problem is the rear wheel bearing, when i picked the car up the back passenger wheel was stuck on, now i started the car and managed to free the wheel off but the back wheel as a really bad wobble, i have looked at this and when i took off the rear hub the bearing just fell apart, the question is do i press the bearing in the hub or does it just slide on the rear shaft? sorry if this seems like a stupid question but i am self tought and i like to do things myself with the stupid prices garages charge nowadays ;) cheers in advance

Remove the wheel and dust cap from the centre of the drum. Remove the large nut inside, not sure what size the fiesta is but could be 30mm. Remove the drum and remove the bearings, seals and seats.

you will need to knock the new seats in place or press them in. Pack the new bearings with grease and fit them followed by the seals.

Not sure on how tight the hub nut should be, although with these type of bearings its probably not alot.

with the hand brake off,remove road wheel, remove dust cover, remove the nut that holds the drum on...

then the drum should come away from the stub axle and a tappered bearing should come out with it.

now once the drum is of you need to remove the inner tappered beaing, seat and seal also the outta bearing seat.

to remove the inner bearing you have to use a punch to knock it out from the opposite side and the same with the seat... then turn over the drum and knock out the outta seat.

now removed clean up drum, then using a socket just a slight bit smaller than the seats knock the new bearing seats into position both sides.

pack each bearing full off grease... remember which bearing is for which seat.

put the inner bearing in its seat then using other socket simular size to the seal, tap the seal in place with it.

replace drum put the new outta wheel bearing on the shaft and into the drum making sure it sits in its seat nice, then put nut on and tighten so the correct torque... or put the wheel on with two nuts and tighten till you can't feel any up and down movment.... then remove wheel replace new dust cover then re fit
wheel job done...

rememeber tappered bearings don't have to be FT they just need to be nipped up til no movment, then re check after a bit of use with the car and re tighten
