Hi all

I've got a 2011 zetec s. Since about a week ago it is beginning to get really difficult to put into first. I am having to put it in second then into first but even then it can sometime slip into 3rd. Not good at traffic lights!

It happens even when the engine is off without using the clutch.

Is this a common problem? Also how easy is it to fix?

    No problem with mine, could be a rusty cable, the ball joint on the end of the cable or the gearbox pivot bush. Take the gear lever shroud off and inspect the linkage sometimes the ball joints come off then inspect the gearbox pivot this typically get tight.

    No issue on my 2009 with 29000 miles on the clock. I'm nowhere near mechanically minded to help you out though!

    found out the problem, cable is stuffed, ordered a new one and hopefully fit it next weekend, ill see if I can do a how2 aswell because I cant find anything!
