Key Wont Open The Car (both Remote And Physical)

Featured Replies

So, today the fiesta didnt want to respond to my remote key fob. When I insert the key into the lock and turn it, nothing happens.

I took the key to the dealer to get the batteries replaced. Still doesnt work.

I guess it could be dead batteries in the car aswell (even though it worked fine yesterday)

But why would the physical keylock not work?

Sure it's your key!? Not picked up a mates by accident lol?

Do you deadlock the car? If so, when you turn the key, turn it as far as possible and hold it there for a couple of seconds.

It was locked remotely yesterday. Dont know if that does the deadlock?

On the Focus you have to press remote twice to deadlock, I don't know if it's the same for the Fiesta though. Worth a try in case it is deadlocked though.

It is the same on the Fiesta, pressing lock on the remote twice deadlocks it, indicators flash to confirm.

I still maintain that the keyfob key only operates contacts in the door so if the car battery is flat you are stuffed. I'd love to be wrong, guess I'll find out when my battery dies.

Don't think so Ray, as you say would be useless if the battery died! It's usually a physical link on cars I've stripped for parts, admittedly nothing as new as our cars though!

Could always pop a lead off your battery and try it... ;)

Nah, when it happens i'll give the AA a bell :D
