What To Do? If Anything..

Featured Replies

Don't get me wrong I love my car, I love it's colour, styling, all the chrome, the leather seats everything, well nearly everything. ..

I keep find myself looking at ST's, thing is though I hate the wheels, the bucket seats, the interior design, pretty much everything again (namely the reason I didn't go for a ST after test driving one) in fact the only thing i do like and which is attracting me is the engine lol, I even don't like the twin exhausts

The only car which comes close at mixing the full leather seats I love and powerful engine is the focus, thing is though I don't like focuses (foci?)

I don't much fancy doing an engine swap on such a new car (it's only 6 months old), so what to do?

Interior of the ST is the same as your car other than the seats...?

I didn't think I wanted an ST which is why I bought a Zetec S, but after the issues I had with my car it got me looking and now I can't wait to get my ST. Get the feeling that once you go ST you can't go back, lol.

If you really don't like the ST, the only thing I can think of is a performance upgrade for your car.

What Alex said, spend the money you'd spend on an ST on performance upgrades, remaps and the like... :/

You won't regret buying a 2015 Focus ST :)

Buy a mustang :D

I beg to differ on the interior design being the same, if memory serves me right, the ST i test drove (now i cant be sure it didnt have an extras pack fitted or not mind you) had ST written in nearly everything and it just cheapened the look imo

A remap I hadn't thought of, good idea. Can I still do that though? I've got a 1litre 125 ps.

There is an ST logo on the steering wheel, and the dials are red, but otherwise the interior is exactly the same afaik (other than the seats as previously mentioned).

If you are concerned about warranty there is the mountune upgrade:

I suppose if you got an ST you could change a lot of the interior parts if you don't like them, including the seats and the steering wheel. You can get it without the style pack if you prefer a more understated look, and then the wheels, bumpers etc are all interchangeable. The only issue is the cost of changing all this stuff, and there's probably not much you can do about the exhaust tips, unless you could fit the standard Zetec S rear bumper and change the exhaust tips to downward-angled ones so they fit.

That could be quite a nice project, basically it would be a sleeper ST. But it's probably going to be more expensive than it's worth and as others said it might be better to go with engine upgrades on your car.

...I'd have thought the opposite, if you did get the style pack and swapped it all for standard, you'd probably make money, the stuff has got to be massively sought after for everyone making ST lookalikes...

More importantly though, where is everyone getting the cash for all these ST's???

Getting the cash is the easy part, paying it back is the hard bit!;)

That's true, I was just going to say "from the bank" lol.

That's actually one thing in the van department, I've heard people say don't get them on car finance stuff, get a loan from the bank and buy it outright because if all goes wrong you have total ownership of the vehicle and can sell it without problems and pay back the bank, rather than having to sell it whilst it's sort of owned by the finance companies and all that stuff....

^ That was my thinking when I bought the car, so even if I had trouble paying off the loan the bank can't take the car from me because they don't know anything about it. And when I worked out the payments it was cheaper in the long term, but now I don't think I'll keep it as long (got a 5 year loan).

Finance from the dealer will be cheaper than a bank loan. If you get straight HP you can sell at anytime you want

I think that depends on what kind of interest you can get, and when I worked it out last year the personal loan had the lowest interest. I'm not sure if I worked it out right though or if there was a better deal out there.

Maybe the dealers can offer cheaper finance because it's secured against the car vs an unsecured loan which I think is what I got.

Previous car was a loan from barclays (unsecured ), 11.something%. New car is financed with ford acquire, 8.something%

Still happy with my car, the engine might grow on me who knows. Still it's always good to overtake a large car / 4×4 , and think 'you've just been owned by a 1 litre  )
