Would I Or They Be Done For Road Rage?

Featured Replies

Following an incident the other day I'm wondering, as my husband reckons I'd be done as I got out of the car, but the other party instigated it by driving like a idiot.

It's also the reason I want my dash cam hardwired - see other thread for questions I've got on that one

Anyway here's what happened:

I was driving my merry way along a minor main road, quite narrow and bendy as they are around here. And the car in front started brake checking me to a complete standstill...so each time I allow extra room in front (back off) and carry on on my way, we both get up to speed and he does it again. This goes on a few times, twice I had to beep him until the last time he did it and I ended up mm off his bumper. I shouted at him to carry on as traffic was building behind me and at first he refused to, so I told him to wait at the lights about 20yds away.

After he and I had pulled up I jumped out of the car and asked him just what the ecky feck he thought he was playing at?! I had kids in the car and is he a moron trying to cause a crash etc. He said I was tailgating him, I corrected him and said no I'm driving behind you - learn the difference etc. This carried on a few minutes toing and froing the lights then changed so i told him to 'just go', he called me a crazy !Removed! and then sped off top speed.

He was about 17 (if that! :o) in charge of an ancient but high powered Mercedes. I've got his reg and descriptions should I take it further or just let it go?

Any witnesses ?

your word against his let it go

Any witnesses ?

Unfortunately not, would've been plenty if I'd thought to ask them at the time (doh me)

no proof that's why a lot are fitting dash cams police to busy to follow that up

just hope you don't cross paths with them again you cant tell some people

there always right even when wrong

Without witnesses you're wasting your time Laurie - keep calm & keep on driving :)

you wouldnt be done, he was driving like a top of a gearstick and to be fair, you wanted to know why and what his problem is. Unless you threaten, act aggressively or create a dangerous situation, you would be treat by the police as an annoyed motorist.

By the way, the ecky fecky, I'm having that lol

Sussex police let you report morons like this on line.

Even without witnesses or cam footage the usual outcome is a letter sent to the offending numpty and if they're reported again in 12months they can look forward to a section 59.

did you get his number plate

I did yes

Can't hurt to report him.

Couldn't resist ;) Let it go

I would think as there was no collision then the police will probably not be interested, but if you can report them as others said then it's worth a try. I'd be interested to know what he thinks tailgating is, maybe if he can see another car in his mirrors lol.

report the 'ecky fecky' kid

  • Author

I have, police didn't seem at all interested :( still I suppose if he does it again or actually causes an accident it's on file that he's the idiot driver out to cause / create an accident

I'll just have to let it go I guess, and hope our paths never cross again :(

Hope it does and you have a dashcam, the police will be more interested, especially if you get witness details.
