2010 Zetec S - Jacking And Jack Stand Locations??

Featured Replies

Hey Folks!

I need to jack up the front of my car and was just wandering what you guys think is the best place to jack up and place jack stands?

I've done it once before using my trolley jack on the sill at the standard jacking location (same place where you would use the scissor jack that comes with the car) then placed the jack stands as close to these location as I could but surely there must be a better place for these as that thin sill resting on the jack stand head doesn't seem very good to me.

The type of jack stands I have are similar to these ones: post-68787-0-11930400-1443192961_thumb.j

Any pictures of the best places to jack up and place stands etc or tips as to what's the best way to do this would be much appreciated!

Thanks

B

Are they not the same thing?

Just thinking that axle stands should surely be used on the axles...?

Ok so on the front of the car there isn't really an "axel" so what would you use instead??

Thanks for the link, so I should really be placing these stands on the blue locations on this picture?

Anyone shed anymore light on this??

Blue locations definitely. Don't put axel stands on the sill.

Only designated jacking points are the outer ones on sill, the extra ones in blue are not. But if your putting axle stands under then jack up using outer sills with jack and put stands further in on box section, and rear on suspemsion beam

Thanks for the replies guys! So on that first photo its safe to place axel stands under that section just to the left of the bolt head?

Thats fine, good strong section there.

What Ian said ;)

Where can you get the little rubbers that push into the sill, lost one inside when I jacked mine up. Looks like a little black disc rubber thingy,
