Climate Control Resets Itself

Featured Replies

I normally leave my Climate Control set to 19 and as it has been a bit cooler this week I have switched the AC off.

Today was sunny but not hot. When I got in the car at lunchtime and drove off I noticed the AC was on and the temp was re-set to 22. I recall this happening before. There is nothing in the handbook about this, so is this normal behavior?

I usually leave it set to auto. The only adjustment I make is to turn the fan to low if I am in a lot of traffic, I don't like to suck in a load of exhaust fumes. If I am at traffic lights stopped behind a diesel I switch on recirc, I have always done this, its not just because of the recent scandal about diesels, its because I have always been wary of diesel fumes.

If it is on auto then it can (and will) turn the A/C on and off as it sees fit...

I think he means the temperature setting changes.

Ah I didn't see the bit about temp only that ac turned itself back on. That is strange...

Mine need a trip to a garage/dealer then

That's two of us using Recirc when behind diesels! :)

Mine had been known to occasionally reset it self back to 22 and turn the A/C on. Usually i have it on Auto 20 / AC OFF. Not sure what does it. It didn't happen frequently. I just know it did reset itself back to 22 with the a/c on.

The oddest behavior i ever had was fan blowing at full speed when i would start the car. I eventually found taking the fuse out of the glovebox and reinserting it fixed this.

Otherwise it's shouldn't be anything to worry about. If it was doing it more frequently i'd question it.

I know what your feeling, it's rare I use the auto setting but occasionally I will get out, lock the car with it set to Lo and usually A/C is on, Then I'll unlock it, get back in and fan speed is on auto and temp is 22 Degrees, had it happen a few times it's quite strange.
