Need Help - Engine Crackling/ticking - See Video

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Mysterious crackling/ticking horrible sound on my engine after simple clutch cylinder repair?????

the spring and clip on my clutch master cylinder went and it has been repaired today by a mechanic.

The clutch is fine but the car is running really rough and sounds terrible.

My car has always run like a dream with no knocks, noises or anything to worry about up until I collected it today.

There seems to be a lot of crackling/ticking coming from the belt area and the engine/exhaust seems to have a little pop every so often like it hits an air bubble or something.

I am not very mechanically knowledgeable but I know my car and how it should sound.

Just took it to the mechanics house and he doesn't know what it is, he wants it back at his garage and plugged in to the computer.

He has completely destroyed the minuscule confidence I had when giving him my car so I certainly don't want to give it back.

Anyone any ideas?

Am I ok to drive it like this?

Please look/listen to this video and you will hear what I mean https://vid.me/DX8u

Can anybody help? :(

If the mechanic has messed it up he should fix it.

Sounds like a leaky exhaust manifold.

Not sure I trust the mechanic to be honest... any of them really.

I just have a horrible feeling he has planted a problem to get more money out of me.

The car was running like a complete dream when I dropped it off.

It had a simple easy to fix clutch problem and somehow he has managed to f**k up my pride and joy.

Spare no expense on this car and even drive it like an old lady because I like to look after it and want it to last.

I've got to do 40 miles in the car tomorrow with 2 passengers and the last thing i need is a breakdown on the M60 at peak times.

Boss gave me the morning off so I took it back to the mechanic and he has fixed the problem for me. Happy days!!!

mine ticks like that? what was the cause?

Turns out the washer/seal on the master cylinder he fitted wasn't thick/big enough and was letting all the engine noise in.

Don't know how it worked really but he swapped the washer with the one off the old cylinder and it now runs smooth again...

Maybe he did create a problem to see if he could have me over i'm not sure, if he did it didn't work though!!!
