Mk6 Front Wheel Bearings

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just need a bit of advice, im currently changing my front wheel bearings and have just had the garage press me a new one in, looking at the pictures does it need to be flush with the metal clip? I can fit a 1p in, but then im thinking mabye not as it will rub on the metal clamp ?

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great

iirc the fiesta doesn't use a circlip for the wheel bearing.

The Mk1 Focus and Mk6 Fiesta use the same wheel bearing kit, but the circlip is only needed for the focus.

its even got the groove in the hub for the clip to sit in ??

A pic from elsewhere on the forum showing that the circlip isnt used :

so now the clip is in, shell i hit the rest in so it sits against it, and then remove the clip so it doesn't foul the hole where my abs sensor sits in? i thought it was weird that it was sticking out.

You could try and remove the clip, but hitting the flange to push the bearing back may just end up in pushing the inner race of the bearing out and buggering a new bearing.

I'm sure the mk6 uses the circlip? I used it when I did the wheel bearings on my car.

I dunno the pictures i have saw dont have them, i put mine in but there was over hang on the bearing.

I'm maybe thinking of the rear.. I change the fronts first but don't remember much from them

i havent done a fiesta wheel bearing in a long time, soi cant remember about circlip, but theres no mention of circlip on ford etis wheel bearing fitting instructions

I did fronts and rears on a mk6 about a month ago, the fronts had no circlip so didn't bother adding one.

Also as above, the ford workshop manual has no mention of a circlip.

I'm thinking of the rears then
