How scary/exciting!

No negative feelings about being married, but I'm dreading the speeches and the like!

I feel your pain Ian, i got married a couple of years ago. Couldn't really care much for the big 'fuss', which is partly the reason we went to Cyprus with immediate family only.

We had a reception when we got home, I prepared my speech on the way there in the taxi I kept it short and sweet, thanks to all for coming, special thanks etc, then had a few pops at my best man (big brother). It's all about drinking, who cares about the speeches

Put the major speech responsibility onto the best man, make them work for their beers. ;)

Mine was very short. thought I will just wing it. don't need to prepare a speech. Mind went blank so just started pmsl which made everyone else laugh. I just told them all that I thought I could bluff it and it hasn't worked. So they found my honesty funny, so got away with it. Even the bird found the funny side of it, opps wife

I didnt do anything that would make me feel uncomfortable at our wedding so no speeches. I just went round to everyone individually to thank them for coming and for any gifts etc.

Congrats :). And I would also be nervous about making a speech, but as others have said there will be many beers before that lol, so you should be ok.
