Bodywork Damage

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Went into the supermarket the other day and came out to find some idiot had put a lovely dent in my side bodywork, looks like it's from opening a door into it. It's about the size of a 50p piece. Anywhere you guys would recommend getting it sorted?

Also do you have any tips on what you do to prevent bodywork damage in Car Parks?

Dent Demons based in St Helens are good.:)

Think the only way to stop car park dings is to go on the bus

Sorry couldn't resist, I don't think there is anything you can do mate, I have been like many and parked way out the way in quiet parts of supermarket car parks etc to try avoiding the dumb !Removed! that just swings the door open on their cars,

Iv got 2 on the ST. Both on the offside, one on the door, one on the wing, both happened on the same day, only reason I know they both happened on the same day is because I had just spent about 4 or 5 hours washing polishing the car and then went to the shop, later on that day after coming back from the shops I noticed the chips.

Wasn't too pleased as you probably know.

I have actually got to the stage that when I return to the car I give it the once over, especially if the other car has parked close to my car. If its damaged I will wait on the A hole coming back to their car if it looks like its them that has did the damage.

The wife keeps saying just to take the Mondeo, Ok fair enough it wouldn't feel quite as bad if the Mondeo gets the odd wee ding, but its not the point when some A hole with no respect just slams their door off your car.

Hopefully you get it sorted out and it dosnt cost too much because someone else just didn't care about your car.

Hairdryer and a can of computer duster (compressed air).

Heat the dent up so it's reasonably warm to the touch then spray the duster (invert the can) directly onto the dent.

The metal should spring back.

Never heard that method before. Is that tried and tested or just a theory that the metal could revert back to its original form via expansion and sudden contraction?

Some good and bad results on Youtube, this guy obviously had no idea!

I think its too hot then he blasts the paint off by the look of it!

Thanks for the replies, don't know if I dare try that!

I've tried parking at the other end of the car park but someone always comes and parks next to me!!

Just thinking say if there was like a service in car parks that you attach a device to your car and it then monitors your car for someone hitting it or denting it or whatever and then it sends you a text to say someones hit it. Do you think you'd pay for it if it was like a £1 extra per hour? Just a thought, wondering why there's not something like that? You guys heard of anything similar?

I do that, i park as far away from the shop doors as possible in a space that has several empty bays both sides. I guarantee when i get back to the car someones parked right next to me. It's herd mentality i think.

Some folk are just pig ignorant so & so's who don't give a monkeys about their property or anyone else's. The hot/cold method is a waste of time, depending on the size of the 'ding' look for a paintless dent repair or a 'glue pulling' repairer.
