Remaps

Featured Replies

Hello, just wanting some info from people with experience, I have a fiesta zetec s, 1.6 ti-vct engine, I already have cat back milltek system and k&n panel filter, however thinking of replacing the panel filter with the pipercross induction kit then maybe a remap? Wanting some advice or somone that has done somthing similar and what they think of it! Thank you

Hi. Just had my 1388cc remapped after several engine tweeks. My best advice is to get everything you want done before you have it remapped or you will have to have another remap done if you do anymore tweets later on. Filter wise, it's always best to try and get as much cold air in as possible, therefore either the Pipercross kit would do that, or you could make your own system to suit the K&N panel filter, however if the plastic box sits on the engine you may want to go for the Pipercross but in all reality you probably won't feel a lot of difference other than noise unless you have had uprated camshafts.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply mate, or yeah I wouldn't get the remap until I'd done everything I wanted too with the car, tbh after the induction kit I wouldn't do anything else, the money it would cost for updated camshafts or flywheel lightened etc I could put the money towards a different car anyway, what kind of gains did you see from the remap and how much has it cost you?

In all reality, the power gains you would get from a remap wouldn't be a lot. Typically you will likely see around a 6bhp/10lb ft torque. If ran with your induction system and exhaust you may see a few more. The important bit with a remap is that it will allow the ECU to run properly with the mods and iron out any flat spots meaning it will run smoother and more efficiently, creating beater driviblilty.

My 1388cc has filter, cold air intake, exhaust, sports cat and fast road cam kit. From the factory it should have been 85bhp, now it's been dyno'd at 125bhp so the cams have made a large difference in power increase.
