Which Steel Wheels

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum. :D

I am looking at replacing my alloys with steel wheels; I have a Fiesta Zetec on a 09 plate. The alloys I have

on the car at the moment are 16 inch with tyre size 195/45/16.

What size steel wheels should I get please and what tyre size will go on the steel wheels, I know

things have to be taken in to account when changing wheels but I am not very good with cars and don’t know what the changes are I am looking for.

If you need to know anything please let me know.

Cheers

Big John 246

Hi and welcome :)

First I would ask why you would want to downgrade from alloys to steel wheels, is it just because you don't want to worry about them getting damaged?

If you want to do this I would get the exact same size as the alloys you currently have. I think the Fiesta brochure shows all the standard wheel and tyre sizes that Ford use, so you could find the correct size from there. I don't know if steel wheels always come with bolts, but you need to make sure that you have the correct bolts because those designed for alloy wheels are not suitable (that's one reason why you can only use a spare wheel for a limited time).

Edit: I just had a look at the brochure and it looks like Ford don't do wheels in that size any more, but that doesn't stop you from finding the correct size of steel wheel if you want to be able to swap your tyres onto. If you want new tyres you would probably be ok changing to 195 / 50 R15, which according to the brochure is fitted to 16" x 6.5" wheels.
