Mk6 Heating Only Blowing Cold?!?

Featured Replies

My 2003 fiesta will only blow cold air, won't blow hot on any setting! Anyone have any ideas???

Cable come disconnected? Is engine temp guage reading normal?

Seems to be reading normal all cables seem to be connected fine as far as I can tell

By able, he means the wire (similar to a brake cable) behind the control unit which adjusts the Heat setting.

Alot of mk6 owners (excluding myself) have mentioned heater control valves or something along those lines failing

Will check in daylight! Checked all cables at the resistor as was told by someone else that their problem (they only got cold air too) was due to a loose wire at resistor! Was wishful thinking that that was my problem too! Unfortunately not! Lol

The resistor is to control the fan speed. Nothing to do with the Heat :). As the Heat control is done manually by turning a knob, which turns a wire, which goes off to a mechanism.

The air Direction dial works the same way.

The fan speed is done by a switch built into the dial, which works with the Resistor pack to allow different fan speeds

Remove the side trims from floor console to reveal the heater cable(wire) that conects to temperature blend door, operate temperature knob and see if the blend door operates or see if cable has come unclipped,

From personal experience between two cars a year apart, you MIGHT have to remove the large plastic panel directly under the steering wheel to alloy half decent access. You might not. Just some advice :)
