Adding 2 Stroke Oil To Diesel? ?

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard of, or tried adding a small quantity of mineral 2 stroke oil to a tank full of diesel?

Apparently it helps clean out the fuel system and gives a small increase in economy and aids smother running.

This subject is as old as time itself & there are pro's & con's associated with it - allegedly

Adding two stroke will make the engine quieter but unless it's low ash it'll clog the DPF sooner rather than later

I see no valid reason to do it with a modern diesel

The car & engine manufacturers do not recommend it on a modern diesel

Each to their own though

First i recommend blanking the EGR valve in Diesel engines to prevent carbon from caking up the oil sump.

Guide blanking 1.4 and 1.6TDCi here:

then to eliminate contamination from the oil sump and help things run smoother;

I recommend purchasing 5 litres of cheap oil say Halfords brand for example.

drain existing oil

put cheap oil in,

Followed by a bottle of Xado Total Flush

run engine for 20 minutes,

Then drain the oil

fill up with Castrol brand

engine will run smoother,

Also use Xado Multi Cleaner prior to having fuel filter changed

the stuff really makes a difference.

the active egr circulates a lot of carbon into the oil

It won't after blanking but you need to flush out what is in there caked on the cam shaft and inside turbo.

Carbon in the engine is like cholesterol in the Human body intead of blocking arteries to the heart; it blocks up the oil feed to the turbo.

Here are links to purchase the above items;

Since sterling is very strong compared to euro at present it's 5 pounds cheaper per bottle to purchase from Xado Ireland

Total Flush (for oil)

MultiClean (For Diesel tank)

An upgrade induction filter which replaces the stock filter and fits in the stock airbox will also increase mpg as well as smoother running and lasts three times longer than the life of a standard induction filter.
